It’s Competition Week!
It was great to see both JV, Varsity, and Color Guard in their uniforms this past Friday! And how about those props! It’s exciting to see it all come together. We have no game this Friday night but we do have individual band photos and BOA Austin on Saturday.
Next week is Homecoming week, and it will be a busy one! Please make note of the Homecoming Parade meal option. Like Game Day Meals, we provide the option to purchase a meal before the Homecoming parade. Because of the tight turnaround, we are opening that purchase up this week so you have plenty of time, if you choose this option.
Social Media Policy and Etiquette at Competitions
Please review the social media policy regarding audio/video recordings and also familiarize yourself with the spectator etiquette guidelines if you’re planning on attending any of our performances this fall. We want to represent our Dragon Band and make our students proud!
BOA Austin 9/23/23
Our Dragon Band Varsity’s first competition of the year will be this Saturday (9/23) at BOA Austin held at Kelly Reeves Athletic Complex (KRAC). Our preliminary performance is currently scheduled for 12:42 pm and then again in finals sometime Saturday night. For more specific information on BOA Austin, read more here. Tickets are on sale now! BOA works in a “preliminaries” and “finals” block. For Austin, you can purchase a ticket for prelims for $27.00 and a ticket for finals for $27.00 or purchase a day pass for $44.00. Concessions
Concessions is a HUGE part of our Dragon Band Booster income and fundraising. We need every family to sign up to work 4+ shifts at the concession stand throughout the fall season to fill our slots. Some nights are designated by section, but feel free to sign up for ANY night that works with your schedule.
Note that we have added a “Griller Extraordinaire” to our volunteer slots for all Varsity home games. Like to grill? Become one of our grillers!
2023 Dragon Stadium Concessions
UIL AREA MARCHING COMPETITION - ALL HANDS ON DECK!
Dragon Band Boosters (ALL OF US) are hosting the UIL Area Marching Competition this year on October 21, 2023. This will be an all day affair for our students and our parents. We need EVERYONE to pitch in and help this day. We will need volunteers and also donations. Please check both sign ups and help as much as you can. We will have an informational meeting about volunteering at Area early in October. Team leads have all been established so now we just need volunteers to sign up. We appreciate everyone's cooperation with helping out on this day - we will most likely generate over $15,000 for our band program on this ONE DAY but we absolutely cannot do it without your help. Do you know alumni band parents who would like to help? Please feel free to share the sign ups with them as they are welcome and encouraged to help too.

Homecoming Parade Meal Option
We will be offering a Homecoming Parade meal for the evening of Wed., Sept. 27th. The dates to order this meal are from Sun., Sept. 17th-Sept. 20th. This meal will be from Jersey Mike's, and we will have four options:
Option 1-Veggie sandwich meal-$10.50
Option 2-Turkey & Provolone sandwich meal-$10.50
Option 3-Ham & Provolone sandwich meal-$10.50
Option 4-Gluten Free Turkey & Provolone sandwich meal- $12.00
These meals are totally optional and provided as a convenience for students, staff, and volunteers to make busy afternoons a little easier.
Individual Band Photos
Individual Dragon Band Photos will be taken for all band/guard students on Friday evening 9/22/23 immediately after school until about 7pm or whenever we finish. These photos are completely optional and will be available for purchase at a later date. Students will put on their classic black uniforms or their show uniform in the band hall and then proceed to the dance hall for their glamor shot. We are in need of a few volunteers to help coordinate logistics. Please review the SUG and help if you can!
